Course Overview

Hi!

The You4Blue project aims to create in students a deep understanding of the specific context where they live together, with a sense of belonging to their land (the islands and the “blue”), with a consequent stimulus to care for and protect it, and therefore leading to more sustainable and healthy lifestyles and habits.

The You4Blue course is consistent with the project and it is structured in 5 main modules/lessons designed in 20 units.

Lessons are created by the project's scientific partners, namely: UNIVERSITA CATTOLICA DEL SACRO CUORE (Italy), HELLENIC CENTRE FOR MARINE RESEARCH (Greece), AGENCIA ESTATAL CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTIFICAS (Spain), Ittica Nora Soc. Coop. (Italy). The course is aimed at secondary school students.

A video is the core of each unit and it takes no more than 20 minutes to watch. Students can see videos again, whenever they want. Furthermore, there are insights and assessments at their disposal.

Learning Objectives

Specific objectives are to leverage students’ overall “blue” knowledge and obtain a certain level of interdisciplinary science-based notions that will be propaedeutic for successful completion of the other project activities and to stimulate interest in STEAM.

*STEAM is an educational approach that incorporates the arts into the more-familiar STEM model, which includes science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM programs can include any of the visual or performing arts, such as dance, design, painting, photography, video, writing and storytelling.

Outcomes

We hope that the course will increase knowledge and awareness of young generations on the importance of nature for their life and wellbeing, as well as the need for a more responsible use of natural resources. This awareness will promote a change in daily behaviours, including consumption habits, to be more sustainable and contribute to the overall wellbeing of the seas.
